VERSA5 includes a vast range of youth classes. All our youth classes are lead by instructors with a college education in dance.

Session III: January 21, 2019 – March 23, 2019     |     Session IV: April 1, 2019 – June 1, 2019

Class Descriptions and Times:

*NEW* Stretch & Conditioning is an one-hour long class focuses on building core strength and increasing endurance and flexibility through a variety of exercises. These exercises include, but are not limited to pilates, yoga, and strength exercises. Each class begins with a cardio warm-up for 10-15 minutes to improve conditioning. The next half hour will target a specific muscle group per week. The last 15 minutes of the class is focused on flexibility with stretching exercises to create the long lean muscles desired for dancing.

(Grades 7+) Saturdays 12:00pm

*NEW* Leaps & Turns is a technique class designed to assist intermediate and advanced levels students. It focuses on leaps, jumps and turns that dancers perform in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. This specialized class is a way to better your technique when executing basic leaps, center leaps, turns, and fouettés. Dress code: Leotard, short or leggings, tights, and slip-on jazz shoes.

(Grades 7+) Saturdays 1:00pm

*NEW* Discover with Me Explore the joy of movement with your little one and discover the many benefits of early childhood dance classes. We will dance, sing, and play in both one-on-one activities and group activities. Through circle songs, open exploration, and gross motor development exercises, children will blossom with each passing class as they grow with their caregiver during this precious time together. Dress code: Please wear comfortable clothes to move, play and dance in. No jeans. Bare feet or ballet slippers only, please no socks. Must be Walking through 3 years old with Adult.

Saturdays 9:15am

DiscoverTots 30-minute class, is designed as an introduction to movement exploration, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, and classroom structure. Throughout class the students use props, teacher led games, and sing-along songs. One parent or guardian is welcome to watch during class to encourage student interaction. Dress code: Please wear comfortable clothes to move, play and dance in. No jeans. Bare feet or ballet slippers only, please no socks.

(Ages 2-3) Thursdays 9:30am | Saturdays 10:00am

DiscoverDance 45-minute class, is a joyful way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity. Dress code: Solid color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes.

DiscoverDance 1 (Ages 3-4) Wednesdays 10:15am & Saturdays 11:15am | DiscoverDance 2 (Ages 4-5) Tuesdays 9:15am & Saturdays 10:30am

Ballet focuses on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, terminology and musicality. Students will be introduced to barre, center work and across the floor. Each level progresses in difficulty within these focuses. Students are able to advance upon curriculum and instructor approval. Dress code: Solid color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Recommended age depends on level or upon instructor approval.

Ballet A (Grades 5+) Thursdays 6:15pm | Ballet B (Grades 5+) Tuesdays at 6:15pm

Jazz introduces students to learn the beginning steps of jazz and work on picking up choreography sequences that combine style and technique. Each level progresses in difficulty within these focuses. Students are able to advance upon curriculum and instructor approval. Dress code: Leotard, short or leggings, tights, and slip-on jazz shoes. Recommended age depends on level or upon instructor approval.

Jazz (Grades 1-4) Thursdays 4:00pm | Jazz A (Grades 5+) Tuesdays 6:15pm | Jazz B (Grades 5+) Thursdays 7:30pm

Tap students begin to learn more about rhythm, coordination and basic tap terminology. Each level progresses in difficulty within these focuses. Students are able to advance upon curriculum and instructor approval. Dress code: Leotard, shorts or leggings, tights, and black tie tap shoes. Recommended age depends on level or upon instructor approval.

Tap (Grades 1-4) Thursdays 4:00pm | Tap (Grades 5+) Wednesdays 7:45pm

Hip Hop class introduces the fundamental moves of hip hop through across the floor and center combinations. This high energy class with emphasize musicality, coordination, footwork, improvisation, strength building and style. Each level progresses in difficulty within these focuses. Students are able to advance upon curriculum and instructor approval. Dress code: Comfortable clothing and clean sneakers. (No baggy pants or jeans) Recommended age depends on level or upon instructor approval.

Hip Hop (Grades 1-2) Tuesdays 4:00pm | Hip Hop (Grades 3-4) Tuesdays 4:00pm | Hip Hop (Grades 5+) Tuesdays 5:15pm

Breakdancing by The Breaking Program introduces beginner level “b-boy” moves, all the while working on conditioning and strength training. Utilizing hip hop and funk music the students will learn about various skills and tricks. Dress code: comfort clothing and clean sneakers. (No baggy pants or jeans)

Intro to Breakdancing (Ages 7+) Mondays 5:00pm

Musical Theater students learn theatrical, vocal and dance skills through songs, scenes and games. Dress code: Leotard, shorts or leggings, tights, tap shoes, and jazz shoes. 

Musical Theater (Grades 1-5) Wednesdays 5:45pm

Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced acro instructor will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique and teaching skills such as handstands, chest rolls, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers – All at each student’s individual level of experience. Dress code: Leotard, shorts, tights, and bare feet. No socks.
